In the morning, Rat and Mole slept late

They got up and went to Badger's kitchen

Two little hedgehogs were eating breakfast

The hedgehogs stood and bowed

刺猬们站起来鞠了一躬。

" Please sit down," said Rat, yawning

“请坐吧。”水鼠打着哈欠说。

" Why are you here?" asked Mole

“你们怎么在这儿？”鼹鼠问。

" We were on our way to school," said the older hedgehog

“我们当时正要去上学，”较大的刺猬说。

" Mother made us go," said the younger hedgehog

“妈妈非让我们去，”较小的刺猬说。

旁白 neutral

" She always makes us go."

“她总是非让我们去。”

旁白 neutral

" Even in a storm," said the older hedgehog

“就算有暴风雨也一样。”较大的刺猬说。

" And?" said Rat, breaking eggs into a pan

“然后呢？”水鼠边说边把鸡蛋打进锅里。

" We got lost," said the older hedgehog

“我们迷路了。”较大的刺猬说。

" We saw Badger's door and knocked."

“我们看到了獾家的门，就敲了敲。”

Suddenly the doorbell clanged

突然，门铃响了。

Billy, the younger hedgehog, answered the door

Noisy stomping came from the hall

大厅里传来重重的脚步声。

" What's all the excitement about?" said Mole

“什么事这么热闹？”鼹鼠说。

Then Otter burst into the kitchen

这时水獭冲进了厨房。

He jumped on Rat and hugged him

他跳到水鼠身上，紧紧抱住了他。

" Here you are!" shouted Otter

“你在这儿！”水獭喊道。

" Get off me!" yelled Rat

“放开我！”水鼠大叫。

Rat's mouth was full of toast

水鼠嘴里塞满了吐司。

Otter let go, and Rat coughed

水獭松了手，水鼠咳嗽起来。

" The whole riverbank is worried," said Otter

“整个河岸都担心坏了，”水獭说。

" Nobody knows where you two went!"

“没人知道你们俩去哪儿了！”

" Did they send you to look for us?" asked Mole

“他们派你来找我们的吗？”鼹鼠问。

" Of course!" said Otter

“当然啦！”水獭说。

Otter gave Mole a hug too

水獭也给了鼹鼠一个拥抱。
