" How can I fall in love if I don't know what I look like?" he said to himself

Every day Narcissus took long walks in the woods

纳西索斯每天在林中长时间散步。

" I wish I could fall in love," Narcissus said to himself

Narcissus did not know that many women already loved him

纳西索斯不知道已有许多女子爱慕着他。

One day Narcissus walked to the deepest part of the woods

一天，纳西索斯走到了森林最深处。

" Oh, what's that?" he said, as he noticed a small pond

“哦，那是什么？”他注意到一个小池塘，说道。

" I've never seen a pond here before."

“以前从没见过这里有池塘。”

" Oh! Oh!" Narcissus suddenly cried out

“哦！哦！”纳西索斯突然叫了起来。

For inside the pond was the most beautiful person he had ever seen!

因为池塘里竟是他见过最美的人！

" Where have you been all my life?" he whispered lovingly

“这辈子你都去哪里了？”他深情地低语。

Narcissus, of course, was looking at his own reflection in the water

当然，纳西索斯是在看水中自己的倒影。

" Can there be anyone more beautiful than you?" he asked his reflection

“还能有人比你更美吗？”他问倒影。

" At last I have finally found my true love."

“我终于找到了我的真爱。”

It was almost dark and Narcissus had not returned home

天快黑了，纳西索斯还没回家。

" He has been gone too long!" his mother worried

“他出去太久了！”母亲担心起来。

" I wonder if something has happened to him."

“不知道他是不是出什么事了。”

" Eating, sleeping? What good is it to me?" Narcissus spoke gently

“吃饭、睡觉？对我有什么用呢？”纳西索斯柔声说道。

" If I can't be with you, what reason is there to live?"

“如果不能和你在一起，活着还有什么意义？”

That day Narcissus did not return home

那天纳西索斯没有回家。

In fact, for many, many days, Narcissus did not eat or sleep

Finally Narcissus died looking at himself in the pond

After he died, Narcissus' body turned into a beautiful flower

The flower's head bends over, like Narcissus peering into the water
