Zann's breath came in ragged gasps as he ran through the darkness

赞恩在黑暗中奔跑，呼吸变得急促而不稳。

He could feel powerful magic swirling around him

He did his best to avoid the magic energy, but it wasn't easy

It was so dark he could barely see his hand in front of his face

Where was he? What sort of place could be so dark and frightening?

Could it be the Cave of the Unknown? Was he deep within its endless, winding tunnels?

He touched his shoulder, but there was no crawler there to lead him out. He could be lost forever..

" No!" he shouted as panic overtook him

“不！”他惊慌失措地喊道。

He stumbled and almost fell, but he caught himself and kept running

他踉跄了一下，差点跌倒，但他稳住了自己，继续奔跑。

He couldn't stop running. He had to find... to find..

他不能停下脚步。他得找到……找到……

" Zann?" a voice called. It sounded distant and faint

“赞恩？”一个声音传来，听起来遥远而微弱。

Zann's heart jumped with hope. He knew that voice!

赞恩心中燃起希望。他认得那个声音！

" Dad?" he shouted." Where are you? Dad!"

“爸爸？”他喊道，“你在哪儿？爸爸！”

Zann leaped forward to follow the voice

赞恩向前一跃，循着声音追去。

But someone grabbed his shoulder from behind

但有人从背后抓住了他的肩膀。

Zann felt the person's sharp, strong fingers tightening. Or were they claws?

赞恩感到那人的手指尖锐有力，在不断收紧。还是说，那是爪子？

" Ow!" he cried, struggling to free himself

“哎哟！”他叫道，挣扎着想挣脱。

" Let me go! I have to save my parents — they're in danger!"

“放开我！我必须去救我爸妈——他们有危险！”

But the hand only gripped more tightly

但那手反而抓得更紧了。

" Zann!" the voice came again, sounding even fainter." Zann!"

“赞恩！”那声音再次传来，听上去更加微弱了。“赞恩！”

" Zann?"

“赞恩？”

Zann opened his eyes and saw his grandfather peering down at him

赞恩睁开眼睛，看到祖父正低头看着他。

" Boz?" he mumbled, squinting in the bright morning light

“博兹？”他在明亮的晨光中眯着眼睛，含糊地嘀咕道。

Boz let go of Zann's shoulder." Are you okay? You were shouting in your sleep."

博兹松开赞恩的肩膀。“你还好吗？你睡觉时在大喊大叫。”

Zann sat up and looked around. He was in his familiar bedroom in Swamp Bottom

赞恩坐起来环顾四周。他在泥泞底地自己熟悉的卧室里。

Well, mostly familiar. Boz had rebuilt the house as soon as they'd returned from the capital the previous day

嗯，大部分都熟悉。昨天他们一从首都回来，博兹就重建了房子。

It looked almost the same as it had before Morb destroyed it

它看起来和莫布摧毁它之前几乎一模一样。

But a few things were different now. The kitchen was a little bigger

Some of the furniture was a new color or shape

The hole that Zing had once blasted in Zann's window was gone

" Zann?" Boz sounded concerned." Did you have a nightmare?"

" Yes," Zann mumbled." I mean no, not really. Sort of."

“是的，”赞恩咕哝着，“我是说不，也不完全是。有点吧。”

Boz sighed, rubbing his long nose." I'm afraid it was a mistake to take you to the Cave of the Unknown. Obviously it affected you. I'm sorry."

博兹叹了口气，揉着他的长鼻子。“恐怕带你去未知洞穴是个错误。显然它影响了你。对不起。”

" I'm not sorry." Zann shrugged and swung his legs over the edge of the bed." I'm glad I went."

“我不觉得抱歉。”赞恩耸耸肩，把腿摆到床边。“我很高兴我去了。”

He shot a look at the bedside table

他瞥了一眼床头柜。

The message stone was there, tucked behind a framed blink image of his parents

传音石就在那儿，塞在他父母的动态相框照片后面。

Boz didn't notice the look. He seemed distracted

博兹没注意到那一眼。他似乎心不在焉。

" I'll go and conjure some breakfast," he said." Hurry and get dressed."

As Boz left the room, Zing scurried in." Morning, little buddy," Zann said

He stood up and glanced out the window

The grass had a purplish sheen, indicating that it had rained overnight

But the sun was bright and the aurora birds were singing

但此刻阳光明媚，极光鸟在歌唱。

" Nice day. Too bad I have to spend it here in Swamp Bottom," Zann muttered

“天气真好。可惜我得在沼泽底这儿度过这一天。”赞恩咕哝道。

For a moment his dream came back to him

一瞬间，他的梦又浮现在脑海里。

It reminded him of the dream he'd had outside the Cave of the Unknown

这让他想起了在未知洞穴外做的那个梦。

This latest dream had been scary and confusing, just like the previous one

最近这个梦跟上次的一样，既恐怖又令人迷惑。

But he'd felt so close to reaching his parents this time!

但这一次，他感觉自己离找到父母是那么近！

Those were just dreams though. How was he ever going to find his parents for real?

不过那些都只是梦。他到底要怎样才能真正找到父母呢？

" It's hopeless as long as I'm stuck here," he told Zing

“只要我还困在这里，就没有希望。”他对小紫说道。

" I need to figure out how to get to one of those wormholes."

“我得想办法到达其中一个虫洞才行。”

Zann rubbed his hands together and pictured his favorite outfit

赞恩搓了搓手，想象着自己最喜欢的那套衣服。

A second later his pajamas disappeared, and he was fully dressed

下一秒，他的睡衣消失了，整个人已穿戴整齐。

He stepped over to his dresser and picked up a comb

他走到梳妆台前，拿起一把梳子。

" I have to come up with a plan," he said

“我得想个计划出来。”他说。

" I could probably make it to First City in five or six zaps if I really tried

Once I got there, I could rest for a while and then hop through that Wormwood wormhole."

Zing responded by shooting a small flame at Zann's leg

Zann glanced at the dragon and sighed

" I know it's a crazy plan," he admitted

" But school starts again in a few days, and then I won't have time to do anything!"

He seemed no closer to finding his parents than he'd been before his adventures

It was almost as if none of them had ever happened

When Zann reached the breakfast table, his grandfather was waiting for him

" Sit down, boy," Boz said, nodding toward a bowl of rice with glowberry sauce

“坐下吧，孩子，”博兹说，朝一碗浇了光莓酱的米饭点了点头。

" I want to talk to you about something."

Zann sat down and grabbed his food." Um, okay," he said

" Recent events have made me think about a few things," Boz said, rubbing his nose and staring at Zann solemnly." You're growing up so fast, Zann

You remind me of your mother when she was your age

Zann kept his eyes on his food

赞恩的眼睛一直盯着他的食物。

His grandfather often lectured him about being too adventurous

But no matter what Boz said, Zann was never going to give up on finding his parents

但不管博兹说什么，赞恩都绝不会放弃寻找父母。

" I have to remember that you're not a child anymore," Boz went on." It might be time to — "

“我得记住，你不再是个孩子了，”博兹继续说道。“也许是时候——”

Just then a message moth flapped in. It landed on Zann's arm

就在这时，一只信蛾扑扇着飞了进来。它落在了赞恩的胳膊上。

" It's from Perda," said Zann, scanning the insect's wings

“是佩尔达发来的，”赞恩一边说，一边扫视着虫翼上的信息。

" She wants me to meet her in the swamp right away."

“她想让我立刻去沼泽见她。”

旁白 neutral

He gulped down the last bite of rice and stood up

他吞下最后一口米饭，站了起来。

" Wait a minute, Zann," Boz said." I really think we need to talk."

“等一下，赞恩，”博兹说。“我真的觉得我们需要谈谈。”

旁白 neutral

" Can it wait until later?" Zann said." I should find out what Perda wants."

“能晚点再说吗？”赞恩说，“我得去看看佩尔达有什么事。”

As Boz sighed and nodded, Zann grabbed Zing and zapped out of the house

博兹叹了口气，点点头，赞恩抓起小星，瞬间移出了屋子。
