Zann's mind whirled as he finally got up to follow Venna

For a moment he thought he'd lost her — he couldn't hear or see her anywhere

有那么一瞬间，他以为自己跟丢了她——听不见也看不到她在哪。

Then he heard the soft clang of the airship door opening

这时他听到了飞船门轻轻打开的声音。

As he neared the airship, Zann saw that the door was standing open

走近飞船时，赞恩看到门正敞开着。

He crept closer and peered in. Venna was inside with her back to him

他悄悄走近，往里偷看。维娜在里面，背对着他。

She was pulling things out of a box. The relics!

她正把东西从箱子里拿出来。是魔器！

Zann watched as Venna gathered them into a large sack

赞恩看着她把魔器收进一个大袋子里。

He recognized a few of the relics — the Horn of the Otherworld, a scary-looking skull mask he guessed was the Mask of Zanta

他认出了几件魔器——能召唤异界的号角，一个吓人的骷髅面具，他猜那是赞塔面具，

and several others he'd studied in school

" Wow," he whispered. His teachers said the Horn alone held enough power to control all of Magica!

Venna slung the sack over her shoulder and then hurried toward the Cave

维娜把袋子甩到肩上，然后快步朝洞穴走去。

Zann wasn't sure what to do. It seemed Venna was planning to take the relics through the wormhole herself

赞恩拿不定主意。看来维娜是打算自己带着这些神器穿过虫洞。

If Zann followed her, she'd lead him to the wormhole

如果赞恩跟着她，她就会把他引到虫洞那里。

He could hide until she went through it and then jump through

He'd be on his way to search for his parents within minutes

But if he did that, he wouldn't have time to leave a message for Boz or his friends about Venna's plan

" Oh, man," Zann muttered

He had to warn Boz and the others. It was the only responsible thing to do

Zann turned and sprinted toward camp

赞恩转身向营地冲去。

" Are we there yet?" Perda wondered breathlessly

Zann and his friends were racing through a narrow tunnel behind Boz, Teplo, and several others

Magic energy was bouncing off the walls all around them

Despite the risks, the Magic Masters were using magic to lead them to Venna

Otherwise they were afraid they'd be too late to stop her

" Venna!" Uncle Gar shouted." Where are you?"

There was no answer." This way," Boz said grimly, taking off down another tunnel

Zann's crawler squeaked a warning, and Zann ducked just in time to avoid a burst of energy

" Close one," Gliss exclaimed behind him

Zann nodded and kept going

赞恩点点头，继续前进。

They ran through one tunnel after another

他们穿过一条又一条隧道。

Finally they all burst into a huge chamber dripping with stalactites. In the center stood Venna

最后，他们冲进一个巨大的洞室，里面挂满钟乳石。维娜就站在中央。

" Stop!" Boz cried." Venna, this is madness!"

“停下！”博兹喊道。“维娜，你疯了！”

Venna glanced over her shoulder, looking surprised

维娜扭头瞥了一眼，一脸惊讶。

" I don't care how risky it is," she cried." I'm doing this for Magica!"

“我不在乎有多危险，”她喊道。“我这么做是为了马吉卡！”

Zann watched as Venna stepped forward and the wormhole swirled open

赞恩看着维娜走上前，虫洞旋转着打开了。

The edges flashed with silvery bursts of energy

" Douse!" Boz cried, rubbing his hands

“熄灭！”博兹喊道，搓着双手。

" No!" Venna froze as the spell hit her

“不！”咒语击中维娜，她僵住了。

Without magic she couldn't go into the wormhole

没有魔法，她就无法进入虫洞。

She needed magic to navigate through the vortex

她需要魔法才能在漩涡中穿行。

" This is an outrage!" Venna ranted." You can't douse me!"

" We'll remove the spell after you've listened to us," Teplo said

" I swear it. The final decision on what to do is yours."

Venna scowled." Fine. Say your piece. My mind is made up."

" I don't think you comprehend the true risks," Boz said

" Those relics contain a stupendous amount of energy

Trying to take even one of them through this particular wormhole is a dangerous proposition. Taking them all — "

" You could blow us to bits!" Uncle Gar finished

Venna blinked." I... I never thought about that

But I can't let you seal off these relics forever

Teplo held out a hand to her

Venna peered at them all suspiciously. Finally her expression softened

" All right. You have a deal." She handed the sack to Teplo

" Thank you." Teplo smiled at her and then pulled out the Horn of the Otherworld

" Magnificent," he murmured. He glanced at Boz

" Don't forget to remove the Dousing spell. Carefully."

" Oh, yes." Boz rubbed his fingers together

At that moment all the crawlers let out a loud chirp

" Careful!" Perda blurted out

Friction sparked around Boz's fingers. A bolt of energy shot straight at the Horn of the Otherworld

The relic glowed and shuddered in Teplo's hand

神器在泰普罗手中发光、震颤。

" Duck!" Teplo shouted

“趴下！”泰普罗喊道。

Zann pressed himself against the wall as sparks shot from the horn

赞恩紧贴着墙壁，火花从号角中喷射而出。

The wormhole glowed more brightly, and a tentacle of energy shot out

虫洞变得更加明亮，一条能量触须猛然伸出。

Venna screamed as the energy surrounded her

能量包围了维娜，她尖叫起来。

A second later the wormhole pulled her in, her scream still echoing off the chamber's walls

" Venna!" Boz cried, but it was too late

" Oh no!" Perda's face was white." She was still under the Dousing spell!"

There was an ominous rumble. Chunks of stone rained down, and the entire chamber shook

Tok gulped." I think we just destabilized the Cave. Everybody run!"

托克咽了口唾沫。“我想我们刚让洞穴失去了稳定。大家快跑！”

" Too late!" Teplo dropped the sack of relics and grabbed Perda's hand." Join hands — quickly!"

“来不及了！”泰普罗扔下魔器袋，抓住珀达的手，“手拉手，快！”

A small stalactite dropped and shattered at Zann's feet

一根小钟乳石掉下来，在赞恩脚边摔得粉碎。

" Hurry!" he shouted, grabbing Darb and Zing

“快！”他喊道，抓住了达布和泽英。

Soon the entire group was holding hands

很快，所有人都手拉着手。

" Zap!" shouted all the Magic Masters in unison

“闪移！”所有魔法大师齐声喊道。

Zann landed near the camp with the others just in time to see the entire cave collapse into a heap of rubble

He ducked as a stray bolt of energy shot over them

At first all he felt was relief

Then his heart sank as he realized what this meant
