The road weaved through a field of flowers and toward the spirit mountain

道路蜿蜒穿过一片花田，通向灵山。

Faje looked up at the huge mountain and shook his head

八戒抬头看着那座巨大的山，摇了摇头。

" It won't be easy to climb that."

“爬那座山可不容易。”

Wukong laughed

悟空笑了。

" Don't ask me to carry you."

“别让我背你。”

The travelers soon arrived at a river with a strong current

旅行者们很快来到了一条水流湍急的河边。

Waves crashed into jagged rocks, spraying water everywhere

波浪撞击着锯齿状的岩石，到处飞溅着水花。

" This river looks dangerous," said Wujing

“这条河看起来很危险，”沙僧说道。

" But we must cross it to get to the spirit mountain."

“但我们必须渡过它才能到达灵山。”

Baje sighed

八戒叹了口气。

" We will never be able to cross this river safely."

“我们永远无法安全地渡过这条河。”

" Let's just go home."

“我们还是回家吧。”

旁白 neutral

" Nonsense," said Wukong

“胡说，”悟空说道。

" Look over there."

“看那边。”

旁白 neutral

The monkey pointed upstream

猴子指向上游。

A thin log lay across the river

一根细木头横跨在河面上。

It wobbled and shook as the water rushed under it

水流从下面冲过时，它摇摇晃晃。

The Tang Monk looked at the log

唐僧看着那根木头。

" Don't be silly, Wukong."

“别开玩笑了，悟空。”

" We can't walk across that log."

“我们不能走那根木头过去。”

旁白 neutral

" It's too thin."

“它太细了。”

旁白 neutral

" And it looks quite slippery."

“而且看起来很滑。”

" But that log is the only way to reach the spirit mountain," said Wukong

“但那根木头是到达灵山的唯一方法，”悟空说道。

" You must believe that it's safe."

“你必须相信它是安全的。”

" Watch me."

“看我的。”

The monkey hopped onto the log and ran across the river and back

猴子跳上木头，跑过河又跑了回来。

" See," he said

“看到了吧，”他说。

" It's safe."

“很安全。”

Baje snorted

八戒哼了一声。

" You don't weigh much, Wukong."

“你体重不重，悟空。”

" But if I step on that log, it will break."

“但如果我踩上那根木头，它会断的。”

" I believe Wukong," said Wujing

“我相信悟空，”沙僧说道。

旁白 neutral

" We must walk across the log."

“我们必须走木头过去。”

旁白 neutral

" Follow me, master," said Wukong

“跟我来，师父，”悟空说道。

He pulled the Tang Monk toward the log

他拉着唐僧走向那根木头。

The monk trembled with fear

和尚害怕得发抖。

旁白 neutral

" Don't make me walk across that."

“别逼我走那个。”

旁白 neutral

" I'll fall into the river and drown."

“我会掉进河里淹死的。”

旁白 neutral

" Let's just fly over the river," suggested Baje

“我们飞过河吧，”八戒建议道。

旁白 neutral

" We can carry master and the horse."

“我们可以带着师父和马飞过去。”

旁白 neutral

" No," insisted Wukong

“不行，”悟空坚持道。

旁白 neutral

" The Tang Monk must make the entire journey by himself."

“唐僧必须自己走完整个旅程。”

旁白 neutral

" We're here to protect him, not to carry him."

“我们是来保护他的，不是来背他的。”

旁白 neutral

" Buddha won't allow master to have the true scriptures if he doesn't take every step himself."

“如果师父不自己走每一步，佛祖不会让他得到真经的。”

Just then, an old man appeared in a boat

就在这时，一个老人出现在一条船上。

" I can take you across the river," said the man

“我可以带你们过河，”那人说道。

旁白 neutral

" Thank you," said the Tang Monk

“谢谢你，”唐僧说道。

旁白 neutral

He walked to the riverbank

他走到河岸边。

旁白 neutral

" My companion wanted me to walk across that log, but..."

“我的同伴想让我走那根木头过去，但是……”

旁白 neutral

The monk gasped

和尚倒吸一口气。

旁白 neutral

" There's something wrong with your boat," he said to the man

“你的船有问题，”他对那人说道。

旁白 neutral

" It has no bottom."

“它没有底。”

旁白 neutral

" Water is flowing right through it."

“水直接从里面流过。”

旁白 neutral

" The boat is safe," said the man

“船是安全的，”那人说道。

旁白 neutral

" Please climb in."

“请上船吧。”

旁白 neutral

" Buddha is waiting."

“佛祖在等着。”

旁白 neutral

With a bit more hesitation, the Tang Monk stepped into the boat

又犹豫了一下，唐僧踏进了船里。

He was shocked to find that he didn't sink

他惊讶地发现自己没有沉下去。

He sat on the edge of the boat as Wu Jing led the horse aboard

他坐在船边，沙僧牵着马上了船。

Ba Jae and Wu Kong followed

八戒和悟空跟了上来。

The boat glided swiftly across the river

船迅速地滑过河面。

旁白 neutral

Suddenly, there was a splash

突然，传来一声水花声。

旁白 neutral

The Tang Monk looked at the water and saw a body floating downstream

唐僧看向水面，看到一具尸体顺流而下。

He screamed

他尖叫起来。

旁白 neutral

" A man is drowned!"

“有人淹死了！”

旁白 neutral

Wu Kong put his hand on the monk's shoulder and smiled

悟空把手放在和尚的肩膀上，微笑着。

" It's you, master."

“那是你，师父。”

旁白 neutral

" What?" said the monk

“什么？”和尚说道。

旁白 neutral

" Me?"

“我？”

旁白 neutral

" Wu Kong is right!" cried Ba Jae

“悟空说得对！”八戒叫道。

旁白 neutral

" It is you!"

“就是你！”

旁白 neutral

" Look again, master," said Wu Jing, smiling

“再看看，师父，”沙僧微笑着说道。

The Tang Monk looked at the body more carefully

唐僧更仔细地看了看那具尸体。

旁白 neutral

It was wearing the same Buddhist robe that he was wearing

它穿着和他一样的袈裟。

" It is me," said the monk quietly

“那是我，”和尚轻声说道。

旁白 neutral

" But how?"

“但怎么会？”

旁白 neutral

" You got rid of your mortal body, master," said Wu Kong

“你摆脱了你的凡胎肉身，师父，”悟空说道。

旁白 neutral

" You're a spirit now."

“你现在是灵体了。”

旁白 neutral

" You're one of us."

“你是我们中的一员了。”

旁白 neutral

Ba Jae beamed

八戒高兴极了。

旁白 neutral

" You got rid of your mortal body, master."

“你摆脱了凡胎肉身，师父。”

旁白 neutral

The boat soon reached the other riverbank, and the travelers stepped out

船很快到达了对岸，旅行者们走了出来。

As they walked up the slope of the spirit mountain, the Tang Monk laughed in amazement

当他们走上灵山的山坡时，唐僧惊喜地笑了。

" I feel so light," he said

“我感觉好轻，”他说。

旁白 neutral

" I feel like I could run right up this mountain."

“我感觉我能直接跑上这座山。”

旁白 neutral

" Good!" said Ba Jae

“太好了！”八戒说道。

旁白 neutral

" Perhaps you could carry me?"

“也许你能背我？”

旁白 neutral

Everybody laughed as they continued up the mountain

大家笑着继续上山。
