A tiny woman with a basket stood among the daisies

She had bright red cheeks and small wings

Suddenly she looked up and saw Mrs. Marigold staring down at her

" Don't step on me!" she shouted in a high voice

" I'm not a bug!"

" Are you a fairy?" asked Mrs. Marigold

" Of course," she replied, pointing to her wings

" I'm a garden fairy."

“我是一位花园仙子。”

" What are you doing here?" she asked

“你在这里做什么？”她问道。

" I'm helping you with your garden," the fairy said

“我在帮你打理花园，”仙子说。

" But I'm leaving now

但是我现在要走了。

I've stayed too long already."

我已经待得太久了。

" Wait, may I make a wish?" Mrs. Marigold asked excitedly

“等等，我可以许个愿吗？”金盏花夫人兴奋地问。

The fairy rolled her eyes

仙女翻了个白眼。

" I'm not a genie," she snapped

“我又不是精灵，”她没好气地说。

Then the fairy noticed Mrs. Marigold's sad face

" All right, I'll see what I can do

But you must promise not to tell anyone about me."

Mrs. Marigold stared at the seed

Soon it became a red tulip bud

On the third morning, Mrs. Marigold noticed the tulip bud moving

" Where am I?" said the girl

She had the loveliest voice

" You are home," said Mrs. Marigold

" I am your mother."

Mrs. Marigold held out her hand

金盏花夫人伸出了手。

The little girl jumped into her palm

小女孩跳进了她的手掌。

" Hello, Mother," said the little girl

" What's my name?"

The girl was only the size of Mrs. Marigold's thumb

女孩只有金盏花夫人的拇指那么大。

Wiping a tear from her eye, Mrs. Marigold said

金盏花夫人擦去眼角的泪水，说道，

" Your name is Thumbelina."
