Zann was relieved when Perda rushed over and removed

his Immobilization spell.

He wanted to thank her, but he couldn't because

the Muting spell was still in place.

" We have to help Mellis," Perda said, ignoring Zira and her

goons as they shouted for them to stop.

Zann nodded. He turned and ran toward Mellis with Perda at his side

But when they got close to their friend, Zann realized

she didn't need much help.

Mellis had created a Shield spell, which was holding back the gorzogs

Zing flew overhead, occasionally sending out a blast of

flame to singe the creatures' fur.

" Stop or you'll be sorry!" Zira shrieked

Zann glanced back. Zira was gnashing her teeth and striding after them

赞恩回头看了一眼，只见齐拉正气得咬牙切齿，大步追过来。

Mellis zapped herself out of her shield bubble and joined him and Perda

梅莉丝一个瞬身闪出护盾，和赞恩、佩达会合了。

Zann gulped as Zira pointed at them

赞恩见齐拉指着他们，紧张地咽了口唾沫。

" It was a mistake to defy me," she said

“违抗我是个错误。”她说。

" Now I'm going to make an example of you in case anyone else is

thinking of following in your footsteps."

She paused to glare at Vilkor and the gathered crowd

她停下来，狠狠瞪了威尔科和围观的人群一眼。

Krub smirked and stepped up behind Zira, cracking his knuckles

克鲁布得意地笑着，走到齐拉身后，把指关节捏得咔咔响。

Zann wasn't afraid of a fight, but he knew that sometimes it was better to flee

赞恩并不怕打架，但他知道有时走为上策。

He grabbed the two girls." Zap," he thought, doing his best to focus

他抓住两个女孩，心想：“瞬移。”同时尽力集中精神。

The three of them landed at the base of the tree beside the well

三人落在了井边那棵树的底下。

Zann sighed with relief. His zap had been perfectly accurate for once!

赞恩松了口气。他这次瞬移竟然分毫不差！

Perda looked confused." Why did you zap us here?" she asked

佩达一脸困惑。“你为什么把我们瞬移到这里？”她问。

" Oh. And I guess Zira's Shield spell isn't working anymore."

“哦。我猜齐拉的护盾魔法现在已经失效了。”

Zann's eyes widened. He hadn't even thought of that!

赞恩瞪大了眼睛。他压根儿没想到这一点！

He was relieved that the shield was gone

护盾消失了，他松了一口气。

Meanwhile Mellis pointed to her own mouth." Oh, right," Perda said

这时梅莉丝指了指自己的嘴。“哦，对了，”佩达说。

" I almost forgot about the Muting spell."

“我差点忘了静音咒。”

She quickly removed the spell from both Mellis and Zann

她迅速解除了梅莉丝和赞恩身上的咒语。

" Thanks," Zann said as soon as he could speak

“谢谢，”赞恩能开口说话后马上说道。

" Listen, I have a plan. We have to go back through the time vortex."

“听着，我有个计划。我们必须穿过时间漩涡回去。”

" What?" Mellis cried

“什么？”梅莉丝喊道。

But Perda immediately nodded." Zann's right," she said to Mellis

但佩达立刻点了点头。“赞恩说得对，”她对梅莉丝说。

" Zira is out to get you. The only way to keep you safe is to

take you to our time, where she can't reach you."

Mellis hesitated. Zann felt anxious as he listened to

the shouts from outside the wall.

How long would it take Zira to find them?

" Hurry," he said." Let's check the wormhole

If it works like the regular ones, there should be enough magic

in the air to open it now."

They joined hands and stepped closer to

the tree. But nothing happened.

" It was right here." Perda tapped the ground with

her foot. "I know it was!"

Zann's heart sank." Are we trapped here?"

赞恩的心一沉。“我们困在这儿了吗？”

Perda's shoulders slumped. But then she straightened up

佩达的肩膀垮了下来。但很快她又挺直了腰。

" Wait. It didn't open the regular way back in our own time either

“等等。在我们那个时代，它也不是用常规方式打开的。”

Remember, Zann? It opened when I grabbed that old metal leaf thing."

记得吗，赞恩？我当时抓住那个旧的金属叶子一样的东西，它就开了。

" Metal leaf?" Mellis blurted out." My pendant is shaped like a leaf."

“金属叶子？”梅莉丝脱口而出。“我的吊坠就是树叶形状的。”

" Whoa, really?" Zann glanced at Perda." Could it be the same leaf?"

“哇，真的吗？”赞恩看了佩达一眼。“会是同一片叶子吗？”

" I bet it is!" Perda looked excited." That must be the key

that opens this wormhole!

旁白 neutral

After all, it's something from ' bygone days,' just like in the riddle."

毕竟，那是‘过去时光’里的东西，就跟谜语里说的一样。”

" But the pendant is back in our time," Zann said

“可是吊坠还在我们那个时间里，”赞恩说。

" Does that mean we can't open the wormhole?"

Perda shook her head." There must be another way."

佩达摇了摇头。“一定还有别的办法。”

Just then Zing flew over the wall, chirping irritably

就在这时，辛仔飞过墙头，烦躁地唧唧叫着。

" Get down here, little buddy!" Zann called

“快下来，小家伙！”赞恩喊道。

旁白 neutral

But someone else had seen Zing fly over the wall

但还有别人看见辛仔飞过了墙。

旁白 neutral

" They're in there!" Krub shouted." Inside, by the well!"

“他们在里面！”克鲁布喊道。“院子里，水井那边！”

" Should we zap away somewhere else?" Zann asked

“我们要不要瞬移到别的地方去？”赞恩问。

旁白 neutral

" If we can get to the other wormhole, we could hide out

in Wyssa's world."

旁白 neutral

" No, wait." Perda looked thoughtful

“不，等等。”佩达若有所思。

" We don't have that key anymore, but maybe

a different key would work.

旁白 neutral

Something that survived through time, like Mellis'

pendant or like that cup!"

旁白 neutral

" What cup?" Zann asked

“什么杯子？”赞恩问。

旁白 neutral

Perda quickly reminded him and Mellis about the cracked cup

lying on the ground outside.

旁白 neutral

" I'm pretty sure it's the same one that becomes a relic

in our time," she said.

旁白 neutral

" I saw it in your parents' lab."

“我在你父母的实验室见过它。”

The three of them levitated to the top of the wall

Mellis pointed. "There it is!"

Zann saw the cup. He also saw Zira rushing forward

赞恩看见了杯子。他也看见齐拉正冲过来。

" Stand back, everyone!" she cried

“大家退后！”她喊道。

Magic energy crackled from her fingertips as she raised her arms

她举起手臂，魔法能量在指尖噼啪作响。

Zann created friction for a Shield spell. Beside him, Perda did the same

赞恩摩擦双手准备一个护盾咒。在他身旁，佩达也做了同样的动作。

But Mellis acted faster. She raised both hands

但梅莉丝动作更快。她举起了双手。

" Away!" she cried, her voice amplified by a Swelling spell

“退散！”她喊道，声音被一个扩音咒放大了。

A huge wave of energy swept out from Mellis, knocking Zira and

her entourage off their feet and halfway to the horizon!

" Wow!" Zann was amazed by Mellis' power

“哇！”赞恩对梅莉丝的力量感到惊叹。

" Hurry." Perda was still rubbing her hands together

“快点。”佩达仍在搓着双手。

" She'll be back soon. And the gorzogs are still out there, so we'll

have to bring the cup to us.

Let's use a simple Transportation spell. Be sure to focus

We might have only one chance before Zira returns."

Zann nodded, already rubbing his thumb against his other fingers

Transportation spells were basic magic, but that didn't mean

they were easy.

He thought back to the time he'd tried a Transportation spell in school

and accidentally blew up the stuff he was supposed to transport.

" Come to me," he murmured

“到我这儿来。”他低声念道。

The cup wiggled and then lifted off the ground

杯子轻轻摆动，然后离开了地面。

It floated toward the kids, finally landing in Zann's hand

它飘向孩子们，最终落入了赞恩的手中。

" Got it!" he cried

“拿到了！”他喊道。

He didn't bother to levitate down

他懒得再慢慢悬浮下来。

Instead he released the spell and fell beside Zing with a grunt

他直接解除了咒语，闷哼一声落在了辛仔旁边。

Perda and Mellis did the same

佩达和梅莉丝也照做了。

With the cup in his hand, Zann stepped toward

the tree. The wormhole swirled open!
