Perda let out a gasp so loud that a man glanced over in surprise

" Oh, wow!" she blurted out. Then she grabbed Zann by the arm

" Come with me. We have to talk!"

Feeling confused, Zann allowed Perda to drag him away and into the woods

When Perda turned to face Zann, she looked pale and stunned

Perda grabbed him by the shoulders, staring into his eyes

Zann was a little distracted by Perda's pretty brown eyes

so perfectly. Then he blinked.

" Wait," he said slowly, finally catching on

"'Bygone days.' Do you mean . . ."

" Yes, Zann," Perda said

" When we fell into that strange wormhole at the base of the

Wormwood tree, we didn't travel to another world.

We traveled back in time!"

Zann gasped, hardly daring to believe it was true

Just then there was a rustle in the bushes nearby

A chupo poked its snout out, sniffed at the kids, and then howled

" Good boy," Zann said to the dragon as the chupo disappeared

" Let's get away from here," Perda said." Someone might

come to investigate that howl."

They headed deeper into the woods. It was dark

beneath the canopy of twisted trees.

Noisy insects buzzed in the air, and Zann could hear

animals moving just out of sight.

" It's creepy in here," he said with a shudder

" Maybe this is Mount Mystery! That would explain why it's so scary."

He searched his mind, trying to remember what he'd

learned in history class.

" Do you think this is the Old Times?"

" I doubt it." Perda looked thoughtful

" In the Old Times, there was a ton of dark magic

and everyone used all kinds of dangerous spells.

" Before the Old Times? Wow." Zann tried to imagine it

Zann thought hard as he trudged through the forest

with Zing flying overhead.

" The wormhole by the tree," he said

" It brought us to a vortex through time, right?

So then when we went through the other wormhole..."

" It took us into the regular vortex," Perda said

finishing his sentence.

" And since we're in the distant past here, we're also in

the distant past in all the other worlds we visited."

" So that really was Skellia that we visited," Zann said

" It just hasn't been covered in water yet."

They reached the clearing just in time to hear Mellis speaking

" It's not difficult at all!" she said, her voice shaking a little

" Silence!" Vilkor roared, striding over and grabbing her by the shoulder

He covered her mouth with his free hand and then shouted," Zap!"

The two of them disappeared to cries of confusion from the villagers

Vilkor's servants and goons seemed alarmed

" Hey, where'd they go?" a goon said

The clearing erupted into chaos

Servants, goons, and villagers started running around, shouting in alarm

" I bet Vilkor zapped them back to the village," Perda said to Zann

"我敢打赌维尔科把他们瞬移回村子了，"佩达对赞恩说。

" Zira probably did that Muting spell on Mellis, and he

doesn't know how to restore it."

Zann nodded, grabbing Zing and taking Perda's arm

" We have to get back there and save her!" he cried

"我们必须赶回去救她！"他喊道。

He gulped, glancing up at the peak of what he now

knew was Mount Mystery.

" And then figure out what we're going to do about all this!"
