" Yes," Perda said." She was able to magically tame the gorzogs too

Suddenly a scream of terror shattered the peace of the wilderness

Perda ran fast." We're coming!" she shouted

She burst into a small clearing with Zann at her heels

A woman was there, cowering in front of a looming, hideous creature

" What is that thing?" Zann exclaimed." It looks like an extra-large troll!"

" Rub your hands together," she shouted." Make a fireball

and throw it right at its face!"

The woman rubbed her hands together. The rock tromper

grunted and took a step closer.

" Now think about a fireball, and say the word," Perda instructed

" One should appear in your hand."

The woman blinked." Uh, fireball?"

The little dragon flew over the rock tromper's head

whistling his special song.

The tromper paused and stared around dully

" It not only looks like a troll, it acts like one too," Perda said

" Quick! Let's get her out of there before the creature snaps out of it!"

She and Zann ran past the rock tromper and grabbed the woman by the arms

They landed in the shallow water at the edge of a pond

" I don't know why you couldn't use magic to rescue yourself though."

She and Zann quickly told the woman, whose name

was Vari, about magic and friction.

They tried again to teach her how to create things

But she wasn't able to conjure so much as a cup of water

Finally Zann sat back." Maybe she's a Void, like Darb."

He sounded wistful, and Perda guessed that he was missing his friend

eating and drinking and resting.

They also showed the other villagers how to create friction

Everyone except Vari was able to start using magic almost immediately

It took them two more zaps, but finally they landed in the village square

with other parts of Terrica, or whatever."

The shorter boy was staring at Zing." What's that thing? Does it bite?"

The tall boy shrugged." A lot. He only shut up, like, five minutes ago
