On Tuesday afternoon Ben nervously paced the hall outside

the auditorium, checking his phone.

" Where's Waldo?" he muttered." Rehearsal starts in three minutes."

“沃尔多在哪？”他咕哝道，“排练三分钟后就开始了。”

Finally, with only thirty seconds to spare, Waldo came

running down the hall.

" I've done it! This is the best memory potion ever — guaranteed

to work like a charm."

" Quick, give it to me!" Ben said

Waldo handed Ben a bright yellow drink, and Ben quickly drank it

" Macdeath has arrived!" Mog called as Ben hurried

into the auditorium.

" Mog!" a vampire shouted. Victoria looked at him

and pointed to the doors.

Mog sighed." I know — spin, spit, and knock." He ran out

" Let's start the witches' scene," Victoria said

" Ben, stand by for your cue to come onstage."

Ben went to stand in the wings

As he waited, he rubbed his head

He felt funny, as if there was something he was supposed

to remember but couldn't.

After the three witches had started their scene, Mog knocked

on a door and came back in.

" I know everyone gets mad when I say ' Macdeath,'" he said

" But I kind of like spinning in circles and spitting."

" Mog!" a three-eyed monster snapped

" Oops, I did it again!" Mog slapped his forehead and hurried off

" Who was that big monster?" Ben asked the three-eyed monster

“那个大怪物是谁？”本问三眼怪物。

" Ben, you're late!" Victoria called

"本，你迟到了！" 维多利亚喊道。

The monster rolled her three eyes and pushed Ben onstage

Ben blinked at the glamorous vampire in the front row

She seemed to recognize him

" Are you ready?" she asked

Ben blinked." Ready for what?"

The ghoul appeared to be very excited

A wizard with round glasses approached Ben and took him by the arm

" Excuse me, Ms. Lafang, I think Ben is sick today."

The glamorous vampire sighed." Then take him home."

" Sorry, Ben," the wizard whispered as he led Ben offstage

" I'll get the potion right, I promise!"

“我会把药水弄对的，我保证！”

" Huh? Potion?"

“嗯？药水？”

Then, the next thing Ben knew, he was standing in a bedroom

然后，本回过神来时，发现自己已站在一间卧室里。

The kind wizard helped him into bed, and he drifted off to sleep

When Ben woke up the next morning, he remembered everything that had

happened at rehearsal—including all the stuff he'd forgotten.

" Ugh!" he moaned

" How embarrassing! Why did I drink Waldo's potion?"

He started to get out of bed, but he felt so dizzy, he had to lie back down

Maybe he really was sick

" Rise and shine!" Uncle Bert came in with a plate of lizard eggs

" I hope you like... Hmm, you don't look well, Ben

“希望你喜欢……嗯，你脸色不太好，本。”

Your mom left Dr. Welt's number. Maybe I should call him."

" I'm fine," Ben mumbled

But the thought of going to school after yesterday's rehearsal

made him feel terrible.

The three witches were going to be furious at him

" Is it okay if I stay home from school today, Uncle Bert?"

“伯特叔叔，我今天能呆在家里不去上学吗？”

" Sure. I'll make you some power punch — my special brew

for illness. Now get some rest."

When Ben woke up that afternoon, he found

Uncle Bert watching TV.

" You're looking better," Uncle Bert said

" It must have been my power punch

Want to watch a movie?"

" Sure," Ben mumbled. Maybe a movie would

take his mind off Macdeath.

As Uncle Bert scrolled through the TV menu, Ben spotted

one of Victoria Lafang's first movies.

" Lost in the Slime is on the Chiller Channel,"

Ben said. "Let's watch that."

Uncle Bert shifted in his seat." It's not for kids."

" Sure, it is," Ben replied." It's rated AM, for All Monsters."

Uncle Bert frowned." I don't think so. It's — "

Ding-dong! The doorbell rang

" I'll get it." Ben went to the front door

Waldo stood there, looking sheepish

" I'm so sorry, Ben. But I made a new memory potion

It'll work this time, I promise."

He handed Ben a tall bottle of lavender-colored liquid

" Don't worry about everyone being mad at you

I heard lots of monsters defended you after we left yesterday

Ms. Lafang isn't mad either."

" Really — nobody's mad?" Ben asked in surprise

“真的——没人发火？”本惊讶地问。

" Well, a few monsters are annoyed, like the witches

but they don't count," Waldo said quickly.

Ben felt a little better." Want to watch a movie?"

本感觉好了一些。“想看电影吗？”

" Okay."

“好的。”

旁白 neutral

" Uncle Bert is in the family room. I'll grab a snack

and be right there."

In the kitchen Ben put Waldo's potion on the counter

and got a snack.

" I'll pour that potion down the drain after Waldo leaves," he thought

“等沃尔多走了，我就把那药水倒进下水道，”他想。

" There's no way I'm drinking another one of his potions!"

“我绝对不会再喝他的任何药水了！”
