Then he spotted Serena crossing the field with Winnie

" Whoa." A few monsters started whispering

" Who's that beautiful witch?"

" Hi, Serena!" Pixel called, waving madly." I — oops!"

As soon as Pixel dropped the rope, Zork seized the opportunity

" Pull, Team Orange!" he shouted

Before Ben could react, he felt the rope slip through his hands

A second later Mog landed in the mud pit, splattering mud everywhere

Pixel fell in next, followed by Deb, Ben, and finally Jen

Team Orange laughed and cheered

Their fans went wild too, chanting," Orange! Orange!"

Team Black pulled themselves out of the mud

Mog looked disappointed, but he tried to shake it off

Mr. Freaky was racing around, waving his arms happily

Ben wiped himself down as best he could

Then he went over to talk to Gaby

" Nice win," he said." I sure wish you were on our team, though."

" Me too." Gaby folded her arms and scowled

" But I was worried about Winnie yesterday

" I think Winnie is jealous of Serena," Gaby said

" She's even letting it get in the way of Field Day," Gaby went on

" Zork asked her to join Team Orange, but she told him she was too busy with her cousin."

At the mention of Zork, Ben just grunted

" Well, good luck with the sack race, Gaby. It should be another good competition."

A few minutes later, the two teams stood with Mr. Gwarg near a white line on the field

" This is the starting line for the sack race," the gym teacher explained

" And remember, there is absolutely no floating or flying in this event

As Gaby took off, her long legs immediately got caught in the sack, and she toppled forward onto her face." Oof!"

加比出发时，她的长腿立刻被麻袋绊住，整个人向前扑倒在地。“哎哟！”

" Get up, Gaby!" Zork yelled

“快起来，加比！”佐克大喊。

" Don't just lie there!" Gaby tried to get up, but she got even more tangled

“别光躺着呀！”加比试图站起来，却缠得更紧了。

Brunhilda had been laughing as she hopped past Gaby

But a second later, she plunged forward too

Ben held his breath, watching his teammates

本屏住呼吸，看着他的队友们。

Mog seemed focused only on the finish line as he hopped across the field

莫格跳着穿过场地，似乎只盯着终点线。

Waldo wasn't too far behind Mog, but he kept having to stop to push his glasses up on his nose

Meanwhile Pixel looked as if he was drowning inside his sack

与此同时，皮克塞尔看起来快被自己的袋子吞没了。

It was much too large for the tiny ghost

" Go, Team Black!" Ben shouted

" Feet, do your stuff!" Carly called out suddenly

Then she began leaping forward with huge hops

接着，她开始大步跳跃着向前冲。

" Uh-oh," Ben thought

Carly was rapidly catching up to Mog!" Go, Mog, go!" Ben shouted

卡莉正飞快地赶上莫格！“加油，莫格，加油！”本喊道。

The racers kept going

选手们继续前进。

Mog dived for the finish line just as Carly took one last enormous leap

就在卡莉完成最后一次巨大跳跃时，莫格扑向了终点线。

Mr. Gwarg had crouched down to watch the finish line

格瓦格先生之前蹲下身子观察终点线。

He stood back up." And the winner is... Mog!"

他重新站起来。“获胜者是……莫格！”

" What?" Mog was still lying on the ground

“什么？”莫格还躺在地上。

" You won. Carly is the second-place winner," Mr. Gwarg said

“你赢了。卡莉是第二名，”格瓦格先生说道。

" Rats!" Carly cried, stepping out of her sack

“差劲！”卡莉叫着，从她的袋子里跨出来。

The crowd gasped. In place of her normal feet, Carly had huge kangaroo feet

人群倒吸一口气。卡莉的脚不再是正常的脚，而是一双巨大的袋鼠脚。

" Hey! No fair!" a goblin yelled

“嘿！不公平！”一个小妖精喊道。

Team Black was complaining loudly too

黑队也在大声抱怨。

Mog pointed at Carly's feet." She used magic!"

莫格指着卡莉的脚。“她用了魔法！”

Carly grinned and stuck out her tongue at him

卡莉咧嘴一笑，朝他吐了吐舌头。

" No, I didn't. It's not magic — it's an ability. Remember?

“不，我没有。这不是魔法——是一种能力。记得吗？

I'm a doppelganger. And doppelgangers can change shape."

我是个变形怪。变形怪能改变外形。”

Deb scowled." Two can play this game," she muttered

黛布皱起眉头。“这游戏，你会玩我也会，”她咕哝道。
