Ben stared at Sarah Swingwire." She's hypnotizing Zork!" he realized

" Maybe she's hypnotizing all of the circus performers!"

" You're ready now, Zork," Sarah said." Go back into the gym

and wait for the circus to start."

Without a word, Zork turned and headed back toward the gym

He took small careful steps, as if he was walking on a high wire

Ben shot over to Sarah." Did you just hypnotize Zork?"

" What?" Sarah blinked in surprise." No, of course not."

out of this place! Enjoy the show!"

He zoomed down the hall, taking a shortcut so he could reach

the main entrance ahead of Sarah.

Then he ducked into a dark corner of the lobby

Just before Sarah reached for the doors, he jumped out

in front of her. "Boo!"

" Ahh!" Sarah screamed and put a hand to her heart

"You monsters are always scaring me!"

Ben scowled at her." Tell me — why were you hypnotizing Zork?"

" I've had to hypnotize Zork three times today," Sarah went on

" If he suddenly snaps out of it while he's up on the tightrope..." She gulped

" It's too late." Sarah glanced at her watch." The circus starts in one minute!"

" One minute?" Ben thought fast

How could they fix this? Suddenly he remembered Cleo's odd behavior again

" You trained the performers to go into a trance whenever

somebody says the word 'sludge,' right?"

Sarah nodded

" How do you snap them out of it?" he asked

She quickly explained

" Come on!" Ben cried." Let's go before the show starts!"

Together they raced down the hallway

But as they approached the gym, Ben could hear circus music

coming from inside.

Then the crowd burst into loud applause

" We're too late!" Sarah cried

" Try it anyway!" Ben yelled." Do what you always do to snap

a performer out of a trance!"

Sarah nodded and began blowing huge bubbles

with her gum, popping them like crazy.

But inside the gym, the crowd was roaring so loudly

the performers couldn't hear the popping sound.

" Ugh," Ben groaned. This wasn't working. He looked

around the gym for a second.

旁白 neutral

" You keep popping bubbles," he said to Sarah

" I've got another idea!" He shot over to Jen and Gaby's seats on the floor

" Isn't this fun, Ben?" Gaby said." I can't wait to see Winnie perform!"

Ben told Jen and Gaby about Sarah

" Oh no!" Jen cried." That's terrible. What should we do?"

everything." Ben filled them in on his plan.

Jen and Gaby exchanged looks

Gaby glanced up at the ceiling

"That's exactly why it just might work!"

" Jen, go find Waldo and tell him what to do," Ben said." Hurry!"

" Got it!" she said. As she rushed off, a cheer rose from the audience

Ben turned to see Zork climbing the ladder that led to the high wire

" Gaby, we have to hurry too!" Ben said." Come on!"

The two of them raced up to the top of the risers

Ben noticed that in one corner, a rope was tied to a hook on the wall

He untied the knot and looked over at Gaby, who stood

on the other side of the riser.

She finished untying her knot and then nodded at Ben

As they both let go, Ben held his breath
