On Saturday morning, as Ben and Sid floated to school to work

on the garden, Ben handed Sid a book.

Sid read the title on the cover."'Scaring for Beginners'?"

" Uncle Bert gave it to me when I was studying for my test," Ben said

ideas and time for helping Sid.

" Whenever we don't need you in the garden, just find

a quiet spot to sit and read."

Sid looked confused." What about my scaring lesson

with Gaby? We never got to finish yesterday."

" She has to focus on getting the garden ready today

The archway isn't even done yet, and we wanted to make a path

for the wedding aisle. Read the book. It should help you."

By the time Ben and Sid got to the garden, the rest of the Green Club

members were already there working.

Ben stopped to look at his friends for a moment." Wow," he thought

" That took a long time," a zombie complained

" Everyone inside!" Ben shouted

and raced inside for cover.

Ben checked the weather on his phone.

" The forecast says it might rain until evening," Ben said

"So I guess we're done for today."

Jen looked over his shoulder at the forecast

" Of course! The wedding is only a week away,"

Mog said. "See you tomorrow."

Winnie and Waldo stayed behind while the others left

Winnie spotted Sid sitting at the end of a table

"What are you reading, Sid?"

Sid showed her the cover of the book

" A little." Sid shrugged

my test. I can't just read about it."

" How about this. When you're ready, you can

practice on me!" Winnie said.

Sid brightened." That would be great!"

" Guess what?" Gaby came running back into the cafeteria

" The rain stopped, and it looks like the sun's coming back out!"

" Great," Ben said." Let's go!"

Everyone headed outside

As soon as they saw the garden, they all stopped dead in their tracks

" Whoa!" Sid gasped." It looks like a jungle out here!"

" The vines have gone crazy!" Gaby cried

Ben couldn't believe his eyes

The entire garden was covered in vines!

Ground creeper vines had crawled over the archway, across the field

of black-and-orange flowers, and on top of the piranha pond.

And now they were creeping toward the back of the school building!

They ran closer to get a better look at the vines

" Yikes," Winnie said." How did this happen?"

to use exactly the right amount."

" It's my fault!" Ben moaned

" I was worried that the vines weren't growing fast enough

so I added more fertilizer."

" What?" Waldo cried

" How much more?" Gaby picked up the empty bottle

of fertilizer from the ground.

" Just a little," Ben confessed

“就一点点。”本坦白道。

" But I dropped the bottle when you called me over

I thought it was empty, but there must have

been some fertilizer left.

It spilled onto the vines."

" I bet the rain made it go crazy," Waldo said

Winnie picked up a pair of garden trimmers

" There's only one thing to do — start trimming."

" No." Ben took the trimmers from her with a sigh

“不。”本叹了口气，从她手里接过修剪刀。

" I made the big mess, so I'll fix it myself

Besides, there's only one pair of trimmers."

Winnie nodded and gave Ben a quick hug

" It'll be okay. We've still got another week."

Ben just sighed and got to work cutting back the vines
