" What?" Ben's jaw dropped

He had imagined telling Mr. Freaky what had happened

But he'd never imagined speaking directly to the mayor!

" It's the right thing to do," Mog went on

Just then Winnie stepped out from the crowd, her eyes flashing with anger

" We're through!" said Winnie

She spun around and walked away

Mog stared after her and sighed

" We'd better do something fast," he murmured

That evening Ben and Mog met by the fence between Monsterville and People Place

Mog couldn't fly, so Ben waited while he climbed the fence

Halfway over, Mog let out a yelp

" Uh-oh," said Mog." I'm stuck!"

" How are you stuck?" said Ben

" My pants are caught on a nail," said Mog." Hold on a second."

The monster tried to lift himself to free his pants, but he slipped

Ben tried not to laugh as Mog hung from the nail by his ripped pants

Rip! Mog's pants ripped some more, and then he fell to the ground

" Ouch!"

" Are you okay?" asked Ben

Mog rubbed his head." Yeah, I'm okay."

He stood up, and his pants fell down." Aw, man! My pants are ruined!"

" Never mind that now," said Ben." Let's just get this over with."

Ben and Mog hurried toward the mayor's house

Mog had to hold up his pants as he ran

The sun was setting, and the streetlights were beginning to flicker on

Soon Ben and Mog were standing in front of the mayor's house

" What do we do now?" asked Ben

" We go up to the door and knock," said Mog

Ben gulped." You first," he said

They went to the door, and Mog knocked with one hand

The other hand was still holding up his pants

Ben's heart beat faster as he heard heavy footsteps getting closer

The door finally opened, and Mayor Hubbletree was standing there

" Monsters!" cried the mayor." What are you doing here?"

" Hello, s-sir," Ben stammered." We, uh — "

" Monsters?" cried a little boy's voice

Ben gulped as the mayor's son ran to the doorway

" Oh no!" thought Ben." He'll see us and get scared all over again!"

“哦不！”本想。“他会看见我们，又会吓坏的！”

It was too late

已经来不及了。

The boy stood in the doorway and stared, wide-eyed, at Mog and Ben

男孩站在门口，瞪大双眼，盯着莫格和本。

He looked like he was going to scream

他看起来好像下一秒就要尖叫出来。

Mog held up his hands and said," Don't be scared!"

莫格举起双手说道："别害怕！"

Instantly his pants fell down

他的裤子瞬间滑落了下去。

" Ha-ha!" The boy laughed hysterically

"哈哈！"男孩歇斯底里地大笑起来。

Mog's face turned red as he quickly pulled his pants back up

莫格的脸涨得通红，慌忙把裤子提了起来。

" Sorry about that, I — "

"抱歉，我——"

" That's funny!" said the boy." Ha-ha!"

"太好玩了！"男孩说道。"哈哈！"

Mayor Hubbletree had been frowning

哈勃特里镇长原本一直皱着眉头。

But as he watched his son laugh, his frown faded

但当他看着儿子大笑时，紧锁的眉头渐渐舒展开了。

Soon he was smiling. Then he was laughing

Ben looked from the boy to the mayor to Mog

Despite being embarrassed, Mog grinned." Ha-ha!"

Then Ben laughed too

The next day at school, Ben heard lots of kids talking about him and Mog

" I heard Mog and Ben went to Mayor Hubbletree's house last night," said a ghoul

" Yeah," said a troll." I heard Mog's pants fell down."

"是啊，"一个巨魔说，"我听说莫格的裤子掉了。"

" It's a good thing they did," said a purple monster

"裤子掉了是好事呢，"一个紫色怪兽说。

" The mayor's son thought it was funny

"镇长的儿子觉得那很好笑。"

The mayor isn't angry at monsters anymore."

"镇长再也不生怪兽的气了。"

旁白 neutral

A mummy nodded." Yep. And now he's no longer planning on destroying Monster Academy."

一个木乃伊点点头："没错。现在他也不再打算毁掉怪兽学院了。"

Ben also overheard that Mayor Hubbletree wasn't just going to leave Monster Academy alone

本还无意中听到，哈勃特利镇长不光是不再打扰怪兽学院了。

" I'd like to see monsters and people get along," the mayor had told Mr. Freaky

"我希望看到怪兽和人类友好相处，"镇长曾对弗里克老师说。

" Maybe our students could take a field trip to Monster Academy."

"也许我们的学生可以去怪兽学院实地参观一下。"

" That would be wonderful," said Mr. Freaky

"那真是太好了，"弗里克老师说。

" And I'm sure our monsters would love to see People Place."

"而且我肯定我们的怪兽也很想参观人类之地。"

Ben was floating along the school hallway as monsters gathered around to congratulate him

本沿着学校走廊飘着，怪兽们聚过来祝贺他。

" Way to go, Ben " shouted a ghoul

" Thanks," said Ben." It was really Mog's — "

Suddenly — crash! A broomstick smashed through a wall!

突然——哐！一把扫帚撞穿了一面墙！

Mr. Freaky rushed into the hallway

弗里克老师冲进了走廊。

He moaned when he saw the broomstick in the wall

当他看到插在墙里的扫帚时，呻吟了一声。

" Who is doing this? It has to stop!"

"谁干的？必须停下来！"

Ben cringed. He knew now it wasn't Mog stealing the brooms

本退缩了一下。他现在知道，偷扫帚的不是莫格。

So there was only one other suspect — Winnie
