" Oh no!" Maggie exclaimed." My shirt is ruined!"

“哦，不！”麦琪喊道。“我的衬衫毁了！”

Ms. Wood came over." Oh dear," she said when she saw Maggie's shirt

伍德老师走了过来。她看到麦琪的衬衫时，“哎呀，”她说。

" What happened?"

" Big Spot slobbered on me!" Maggie said

“大斑点往我身上流口水了！”麦琪说。

" Is pony slobber always blue?" Henry asked

“小马的口水总是蓝色的吗？”亨利问道。

He didn't know much about ponies and horses

他对小马和马的了解不多。

But the blue stain seemed kind of strange

但这蓝色的污渍似乎有点奇怪。

Maggie scowled at him." Of course not!" she said

" Big Spot must have eaten something blue."

“大斑点肯定是吃了什么蓝色的东西。”

" None of our usual horse treats are that color."

“我们平时喂马吃的零食，没有那种颜色的。”

Ms. Wood opened Big Spot's mouth to look inside

伍德老师掰开大斑点的嘴，往里看了看。

She sounded a little worried." I wonder what he ate."

她的声音听起来有点担心。“我想知道它吃了什么。”

" I can't wear this shirt in the show," Maggie wailed." I look ridiculous!"

“我不能穿这件衬衫去表演，”麦琪哀号道。“我看上去太可笑了！”

" Now, Maggie," Ms. Wood said

" The judge won't be looking at what you're wearing

" Maybe." Maggie didn't sound convinced

" But I'll still look like a slob in front of everyone!"

" I have an idea, Maggie," Henry said." Try turning your shirt inside out

Maybe the stain won't show that way."

Maggie's face brightened instantly." Henry, you're a genius!" she cried

麦琪的脸上瞬间亮了起来。“亨利，你真是个天才！”她喊道。

" I'll be right back." She ducked behind the stall door

“我马上回来。”她闪身躲到了隔间门后。

" Thanks, Henry." Ms. Wood smiled with relief

“谢谢你，亨利。”伍德老师松了一口气，笑着说道。

" I think you just saved the day."

“我看是你刚刚挽救了大局。”

Seconds later Maggie emerged with her shirt turned inside out

几秒钟后，麦琪出来了，衬衫被她反穿好了。

" Much better," she said." Try not to slime this side too, okay, Spot?"

“好多了，”她说。“拜托别把这边也沾满口水，好吗，斑点？”

She put on the pony's bridle

她给小马戴上了缰绳。

Then she hurried out of the barn leading Big Spot behind her

然后她牵着大斑点，急匆匆地走出了马厩。

Ms. Wood left too

Henry headed back to the lemonade stand

亨利动身回柠檬水小摊去了。

" Oh good," Uncle Bruce said when Henry arrived

" I just saw Maggie getting on her pony."

" Yeah, her class will be starting soon," Henry said

" No." Uncle Bruce shook his head

" The next class will begin in three minutes!"

Ms. Wood said over the loudspeaker

" I want to find a good spot to watch the show," Uncle Bruce told Henry

He looked around. He didn't see Cole, but he saw Kira walking by

She was still wearing her show coat, and her face was red and sweaty

她还穿着表演服，脸涨得通红，还流着汗。

" Hi," Henry said to her

亨利对她说：“嗨。”

" You look hot. Why don't you take off your coat for a while?"

“你看起来很热。怎么不把外套脱一会儿呢？”

Kira paused." It's okay," she said." I'm not that hot."

基拉犹豫了一下。“没事的，”她说，“我没那么热。”

Henry wondered if she was afraid someone might steal her coat, just like someone had stolen Daisy's shirt

亨利心想，她是不是怕有人会偷她的外套，就像有人偷了黛西的衬衫那样。

" Have you seen my friend Cole anywhere?" he asked

“你在哪儿见到我的朋友科尔了吗？”他问道。

He described what Cole looked like

" I know who you mean," Kira said." I saw him earlier

He was behind the barn helping Daisy wash some mud off her pony's legs with the hose

She hurried off

" Well, at least that's one mystery solved." Henry said with a sigh

Now he knew where Cole had been earlier when Cole was supposed to be looking for napkins

" Riders, please ask your horses to walk," Ms. Wood said over the loudspeaker

" The judge is watching you now."

As Henry turned to watch the show class, he saw Cole hurrying toward him

" Finally!" Henry exclaimed." Where have you been?"

" Sorry," Cole said breathlessly." I started to look for clues in the barn

But then a little kid asked me to help her carry a saddle."

" Well, it took you an awfully long time," Henry said

" Maggie's class is starting," Cole said." We'd better watch."

Henry noticed that Rebecca was riding in the class too

She wasn't riding Coco though. She was riding a different pony

" Look, there's Rebecca," Henry said

" We should watch her to see if she does anything suspicious."

" Why?" Cole asked

Henry realized Cole didn't know that Rebecca was a suspect yet

Henry told him what had happened between Rebecca and Daisy

" That's weird," Cole said." Look! I think the class is finished."

The riders were lining up in front of the judge

A few moments later, Ms. Wood began announcing the winners

Soon she got to the final ribbon

" The first-place ribbon goes to... Maggie riding Big Spot!"
