" I'm burning!" Zann screamed. Only his head and shoulders were above the hot, bubbling water

"烫死了！" 赞恩尖叫道。只有他的头和肩膀还在滚烫冒泡的水面上。

His friends were screaming too. But Zann could only think about his own searing pain

他的朋友们也在尖叫。但赞恩只能感受到自己身上火辣辣的剧痛。

A sharp whistle came from overhead. Zing was flying back and forth between the kids and the rocky shore

头顶传来一声尖锐的鸣叫。小Zing在孩子们和岩石岸边之间来回飞着。

Being a fire dragon, Zing was immune to heat and had already shaken off the hot water

作为一条火龙，小Zing免疫热浪，早已甩掉了身上的热水。

Seeing Zing cleared Zann's mind a little

看到小Zing，赞恩的头脑稍微清醒了一些。

The wormhole was over their heads — too high to reach

The shore was pretty far away. There was only one way he and his friends would survive this

" Focus, everyone!" Zann yelled." We have to zap out of the water!"

He hoped their magic would work in this world. If not..

He tried not to think about it

" Everyone join hands!" Gliss cried

Zann felt someone grab his hand. He almost yanked it away because the touch hurt his injured skin

赞恩感觉到有人抓住了他的手。他差点猛地抽开，因为触碰弄疼了他受伤的皮肤。

He forced himself to squeeze back though

" Zap!" he cried

He landed on the rocky shore with a grunt

The heat was gone. Well, some of it was gone

Looking around, Zann could see that they were in a world of flame and scorching heat

环顾四周，赞恩看到他们置身于一个火焰与灼热的世界。

A fiery red sky hung overhead. Steam rose from the bubbling lake

头顶挂着火红的天空。沸腾的湖面升起蒸汽。

Zann could already feel sweat beading on his burned skin

赞恩已经能感觉到汗珠从烫伤的皮肤上渗出来。

But at least he no longer felt as if his whole body were melting

但至少他不再觉得整个身体都在融化了。

Gliss rubbed her hands together, wincing at the pain. Then she touched Darb." Heal!"

格丽丝搓了搓双手，疼得直皱眉。接着她把手放在达布身上。“治愈术！”

Instantly Darb's skin went from fiery red to its normal color

达布的皮肤立刻从火红色恢复了正常的颜色。

" Thanks," he said, slumping with relief

“谢谢。”他说着，如释重负地瘫坐下来。

Gliss quickly healed herself next. Zann and Perda did the same

接着，格丽丝迅速治好了自己。赞恩和珀达也各自疗了伤。

" That was close." Perda looked around." What world is this?"

“好险。”珀达环顾四周。“这是哪个世界？”

" I don't know," said Zann. Zing landed, and Zann scratched the dragon's head." Thanks for the help, little buddy."

“我不知道。”赞恩说。小Zing落下来，赞恩挠了挠小龙的头。“谢谢你的帮助，小家伙。”

Zing chirped, sounding nervous. A large shadow passed over the group

小Zing唧唧叫着，声音透着紧张。一大片阴影掠过他们头顶。

Glancing up, Zann saw an enormous dragon flying overhead

赞恩抬头一看，只见一条巨龙从头顶飞过。

Luckily it didn't seem to notice them

幸运的是，它似乎没有注意到他们。

" We need to figure out whether Wyssa is here," Perda said." Quickly."

“我们得弄清楚薇莎在不在这里。”珀达说。“动作要快。”

Zann and his friends picked their way carefully up the rocky slope

赞恩和他的朋友们小心翼翼地沿着岩石坡往上走。

" There goes another dragon." Darb shaded his eyes to watch a shadowy creature fly by in the distance

“又有一条龙飞过去了。”达布手搭凉棚，望着远处一个黑影飞过。

" Look out!" Gliss grabbed Darb and yanked him back." You almost stepped in that puddle!"

“当心！”格莉丝一把抓住达布，把他拽了回来。“你差点踩进那个水坑里！”

Zann wasn't sure why she sounded so anxious until he looked down

赞恩起初不明白她为什么这么紧张，直到他低头一看。

Right near his feet was a puddle of burning hot lava!

就在他脚边，有一个滚烫的岩浆坑！

" Everyone be careful," Perda warned

“大家都小心点。”珀达提醒道。

They continued walking. Several more dragons flew by in the distance

他们继续往前走。远处又有几条龙飞过。

The only other signs of life were a few scrubby trees and shrubs

除此之外，仅有的生命迹象就是几棵矮树和灌木丛。

" This is crazy," Perda said after a few minutes

" How are we supposed to figure out if Wyssa or Morb is here?"

Gliss mopped her brow." It seems like the kind of place Morb would like — dangerous and scary."

A scraping sound came from behind a house-sized boulder nearby

附近一块房子大小的巨石后面传来刮擦声。

" Shh," Zann whispered." That could be an unfriendly dragon."

“嘘，”赞恩轻声说。“可能是一头不友好的龙。”

He tiptoed around the boulder. A teenage boy was scraping at the dirt

他踮着脚绕到巨石后面。一个十几岁的男孩正在刮地上的土。

" Hey!" Zann blurted out." It's a person!"

“嘿！”赞恩脱口而出。“是个人！”

The boy spun around." Oh! You startled me!" he exclaimed

男孩转过身来。“哦！你吓了我一跳！”他喊道。

" Sorry. My name is Zann."

“抱歉。我叫赞恩。”

旁白 neutral

" I'm Arrano," the boy replied with a smile

“我叫阿拉诺，”男孩笑着回答。

By then Zann's friends had appeared, and Zann quickly introduced them

这时赞恩的朋友们也过来了，赞恩连忙介绍了他们。

" What's the name of this world?" Perda asked Arrano

“这个世界叫什么名字？”珀达问阿拉诺。

Arrano looked surprised." Don't you know where you are?"

阿拉诺看起来很惊讶。“你们不知道自己在哪儿吗？”

" We just arrived through a wormhole," Gliss explained

“我们刚通过虫洞来到这里。”格莉丝解释道。

" Really? You came here, to Drac, from another world?"

“真的吗？你们从另一个世界来到德拉克？”

Arrano's friendly expression changed to a worried one

阿拉诺友善的表情变成了担忧。

" We don't get many visitors here. It would probably be best for you to leave before they see you."

“我们这里很少有访客。你们最好在他们看到你们之前离开。”

" Before who sees us?" Perda asked

“在谁看到我们之前？”珀达问道。

Arrano didn't answer. He was staring past the visitors

Zann turned. A pair of dragons had just waddled into sight

赞恩转过身。两只龙刚摇摇摆摆地出现在视野中。

They were a little smaller than Zing but much plumper, with shiny blue scales

它们比小Zing略小，但胖得多，有着闪亮的蓝色鳞片。

" Shoo!" Gliss said, waving her hands at the little dragons." Get out of here!"

“嘘！”格莉丝朝小龙们挥着手说，“快走开！”

The dragons ignored her. Darb watched them with interest

那些龙无视了她。达布兴致勃勃地看着它们。

" They look a little like river hoppers, don't they?" he remarked

“它们看起来有点像河跳蛙，是吧？”他说道。

Zann nodded." One of Boz's friends has a hopper as a pet

赞恩点点头。“波兹的一个朋友养了一只跳蛙当宠物。”

It's bigger than these though." He frowned as the dragons came closer." And much less bold."

“不过那只比这些要大。”当那些龙靠近时，他皱起了眉头。“而且远没有这么大胆。”

He turned, planning to ask Arrano how to get rid of the pests

他转过身，打算问问阿拉诺怎么赶走这些讨厌的家伙。

To Zann's surprise, Arrano was nowhere in sight

令赞恩惊讶的是，阿拉诺不见了踪影。

" Hey, where'd he go?" Darb wondered

“嘿，他去哪儿了？”达布疑惑地说。

旁白 neutral

Perda shrugged." He seemed kind of nervous or something."

珀达耸耸肩。“他好像有点紧张什么的。”

旁白 neutral

" No wonder, living in a crazy world like this." Gliss shuddered

“难怪，住在这么一个疯狂的世界里。”格莉丝打了个寒颤。

Zing was glaring at the approaching dragons

小Zing怒视着靠近的龙。

旁白 neutral

He sent out a warning blast of flame. The smaller dragons jumped back

他喷出一团警告的火焰。那些较小的龙向后跳开。

Then one of them let out a sharp cry

接着其中一只发出一声尖锐的叫声。

The second one opened its mouth and shot out a stream of lava

第二只张开嘴，射出一股岩浆。

" Whoa!" Zann jumped aside. The lava hit a shrub, which was instantly burned to a stump

“哇！”赞恩跳到一旁。岩浆击中了一丛灌木，瞬间把它烧成了树桩。

" Okay, maybe they're not much like river hoppers after all," Darb said." Let's get out of here!"

“好吧，也许它们毕竟不像河跳蛙，”达布说，“我们赶紧离开这儿！”

" Good idea." Zann whistled for Zing." Come on, boy!"

“好主意。”赞恩吹口哨呼唤小Zing。“快来，伙计！”

Before Zing could get to Zann, one of the other dragons leaped up and batted him out of the air

小Zing还没来得及飞到赞恩身边，另一只龙跳起来把他从空中打了下来。

Zing landed on the hard ground with a grunt and lay there stunned

小Zing重重地摔在坚硬的地面上，闷哼一声，昏沉沉地躺在那里。

旁白 neutral

" Zing!" Zann cried. He tried to rush over, but one of the blue dragons blocked him with another lava blast

“小Zing！”赞恩喊道。他想要冲过去，但一只蓝色的龙用又一团岩浆挡住了他。

" I've got him!" Darb dodged around the second dragon and grabbed Zing

“我抓住他了！”达布绕过第二只龙，抓住了小Zing。

旁白 neutral

" Darb! Look out!" Gliss screamed

“达布！小心！”格莉丝尖叫起来。

旁白 neutral

Both dragons had turned toward Darb and Zing, who were now backed up against the huge boulder. The dragons moved closer

两只龙都转向了达布和小Zing，他们现在被逼到了巨岩边上。龙靠得更近了。

" Uh-oh!" cried Darb." I can't get past them — we're trapped!"
