" This is great." Brody burped and reached for another roasted chicken leg." The banquet food is really good."

“太棒了。”布罗迪打了个嗝，伸手去拿另一只烤鸡腿。“宴会上的食物真好吃。”

Markos nodded, but he didn't answer. His mouth was full of olives

马科斯点了点头，但没有回答。他嘴里塞满了橄榄。

The two of them had found a spot on one of the sofas

They were lounging on some comfortable pillows and tasting every type of food the servants brought them

" Brody, Markos!" a familiar voice called

Glancing up from his food, Brody saw Heracles coming toward them with a big smile on his face

Iphicles was right behind his brother, looking bored

" Hi," Brody greeted them. He waved a hand at the sofa." Want to hang out with us?"

" Hang out?" Heracles looked confused, but he sat down with Brody and Markos

" It's nice to see some friendly faces here." He chuckled

" Everyone else seems to view me as the enemy."

" I suppose that's mostly Zeus' fault," Iphicles said

He shot a look at Zeus, who was halfway across the room talking with some other gods

Just then Hera stepped to the center of the room and called for attention

" I trust you're all having a good time," she said

" Yeah!" Brody yelled out. Dionysus raised his goblet and whooped loudly

" Good, good." Hera's sharp eyes swept the room." I'd like to propose a toast

My servants will bring out fresh drinks for everyone, but don't taste them yet. First, I wish to say a few words."

" Your drink, sir." A servant pressed a cup into Brody's hand

" The queen of the gods wishes for everyone to drink only when she gives the word."

" Oh, right." Brody had forgotten that Hera was making some kind of big toast

“哦，对。”布罗迪忘了赫拉正在准备某种盛大的祝酒。

The servant handed another cup to Heracles, who nodded his thanks

仆人将另一杯酒递给赫拉克勒斯，赫拉克勒斯点头表示感谢。

" Do you have a beverage for me?" Markos asked

“有给我的饮料吗？”马科斯问道。

" Uh..." The servant looked him over." I do not, but perhaps that servant does."

"呃……"仆人打量了他一下。"我没有，不过那个仆人也许有。"

He gestured to another man, who was also carrying a tray of drinks

他示意了另一个人，那人也端着一托盘的饮料。

" That was kind of rude," Brody said after the first servant moved on

"这有点无礼，" 第一个仆人走开后，布罗迪说道。

" That guy had plenty of goblets left

"那人还剩好多酒杯呢。"

I wonder why he wouldn't give you one."

Markos shrugged." Never mind. The other servant is coming this way."

马科斯耸耸肩。"算了。另一个仆人朝这边来了。"

Sure enough, the second servant soon arrived and handed drinks to Markos and Iphicles

果然，第二个仆人很快就过来了，把饮料递给了马科斯和伊菲克勒斯。

Meanwhile Brody sniffed his cup." Wow, what is this stuff?" he asked." It smells awesome!"

Markos sniffed his own cup." I don't smell anything unusual," he muttered

Brody licked his lips." Well, mine smells great!"

布罗迪舔了舔嘴唇。"嗯，我的闻起来太棒了！"

He looked at Hera, who was still addressing the crowd

He hoped she'd finish soon. If he had to wait much longer to taste his amazing-smelling drink, he'd go crazy!

At last Hera seemed to run out of things to say

" All right, I suppose that's enough from me," she said

" Hear, hear!" Zeus cheered

Hera shot him a sour look." Does everyone have a fresh drink?"

赫拉厌恶地瞪了他一眼。“大家都有新鲜的饮品了吗？”

The crowd held up their goblets, and Hera's thin lips twisted into an odd smile

众人举起酒杯，赫拉的薄嘴唇扭出一个古怪的笑容。

" Excellent!" She snapped her fingers, and a servant hurried over and handed her a goblet

“好极了！”她打了个响指，一个仆人急忙走过来，递给她一个酒杯。

Hera lifted it into the air to make a toast." To the spirit of sportsmanship!"

赫拉把酒杯举到空中祝酒。“为体育精神干杯！”

" Hear, hear!" Athena exclaimed, sounding much more sincere than Zeus had

“说得好！说得好！”雅典娜大声说，听起来比宙斯真诚多了。

" Drink up, my friends!" Hera said

“喝吧，朋友们！”赫拉说。

Brody lifted his cup, eager to do just that

布罗迪举起杯子，正急着想喝。

" Cheers, everybody." The cup was about to touch his lips —

" Stop!"

A boy Brody had never seen before dodged through the crowd and knocked the cup out of Brody's hand!

一个布罗迪从没见过的男孩从人群中闪出，打掉了他手里的杯子！

" Hey!" Brody exclaimed in annoyance

“嘿！”布罗迪恼怒地叫道。

The liquid inside the cup splashed all over the cushions and floor

杯中的液体溅得靠垫和地板上到处都是。

One of Artemis' hunting dogs trotted over and licked at the spilled drink

阿尔忒弥斯的一只猎狗小跑过来，舔舐洒掉的饮品。

The boy didn't stop moving. Leaping toward Heracles, the stranger knocked Heracles' cup away as well

那男孩没有停下。他跃向赫拉克勒斯，也打掉了他手中的杯子。

" What do you think you're doing?" Brody grabbed the boy's arm, spinning him closer

“你这是在干什么？”布罗迪抓住男孩的胳膊，把他拉近转过身来。

To his amazement, he found himself staring into a pair of fierce, familiar eyes

令他大吃一惊的是，他发现自己正盯着一双凶狠而熟悉的眼睛。

" It's me, you dummy!" Julia hissed, yanking her new, short hair lower over her forehead

“是我，你这个笨蛋！”茱莉亚压低声音说，一边把新剪的短发往下拉了拉，盖住额头。

" But what — why...?" Brody stammered

“可是什么——为什么……？”布罗迪结结巴巴地说。

Just then there was a fresh shout of alarm

就在这时，传来一声新的惊呼。

" Aah!" Iphicles was staring at Artemis' dog, the one that had been lapping up Brody's spilled drink

“啊！”伊菲克勒斯正盯着阿尔忒弥斯的那只猎狗，就是刚才舔舐布罗迪洒掉饮品的那只。

The creature was swaying unsteadily and whining with confusion

那动物正摇摇晃晃地站不稳，迷茫地哀鸣。

Then it fell over and lay still

然后它倒了下去，一动不动。
