Sara liked to think that her doll, Emily, could understand her

She lifted a hand and knocked Emily to the floor

Men were going in and out of the house, carrying furniture and heavy packages

" Someone has bought the house!" she exclaimed

" Oh, I do hope someone nice will peek out the attic window."

She wanted to watch the movers carrying everything inside

But she knew the cook would be angry if she stayed outside

" I remember thinking that Miss Minchin's tables and chairs looked just like her," said Sara

This made her new neighbors even more interesting

They helped a pale, thin man out of the carriage

The male servants carried him up the steps of the house, and soon afterward a doctor arrived

And that was all she knew about the Englishman from India
