Wukong opened his eyes and yawned

Bajie moaned

" It's too early."

“太早了。”

" Let me sleep just a few more hours."

" Bajie, don't be lazy," said the Tang Monk

“八戒，别偷懒，”唐僧说。

" It's time to get up."

“该起来了。”

" Please start making breakfast."

The pig got to his feet

猪站了起来。

" All we do is work," he said

" We're on a noble mission," said Wujing

After a quick breakfast, the group started walking

They went through a valley and over some hills

Later that afternoon, they heard yelling

" It sounds like some people are in trouble," said the Tang Monk

The Buddhists looked frightened

They struggled to move the cart faster

" Why are those monks pushing that cart?" thought Wukong

" And why are they scared of the Taoists?"

“他们为什么怕那些道士？”

The monkey waited for the Taoists to leave

猴子等道士们离开了。

Then he made himself look like a Buddhist monk

然后他把自己变成了一个佛教和尚的模样。

" Hello," said Wukong, walking toward the group of monks

“你们好，”悟空走向那群和尚说。

" Why are you pushing this cart?"

“你们为什么在推这辆车？”

The monks stopped pushing the cart and turned toward Wukong

和尚们停下了推车，转向悟空。

They looked surprised

他们看起来很惊讶。

" You must be new here," one monk said

“你一定是新来的，”一个和尚说。

" You should leave before you're discovered."

“你应该趁没被发现赶紧离开。”

" Why?" asked Wukong

" Taoists are in charge here," said another monk

“道士在这里说了算，”另一个和尚说。

Wukong shrugged

" People from different religions can still get along."

“不同信仰的人还是可以和平相处的。”

" Not in this kingdom," said the first monk

“在这个国家不行，”第一个和尚说。

" Buddhists are treated horribly here."

" The Taoists make us do hard work."

" Why do the Taoists treat you so badly?" asked Wukong

" Years ago, this kingdom had a drought," said the monk

“多年前，这个国家发生了旱灾，”和尚说。

" Crops died and people starved."

“庄稼枯死，百姓挨饿。”

" Buddhist monks prayed to Buddha for rain, but no rain came."

“佛教的和尚们向佛祖祈雨，但雨一直没来。”

" One day, a powerful Taoist arrived," said the other monk

“有一天，一个法力强大的道士来了，”另一个和尚说。

" He's called the Tiger Immortal."

“他叫虎力大仙。”

" He recited prayers and right away, rain fell."

“他一念咒，雨马上就下了。”

" Since then, Taoists have been in charge."

“从那以后，道士们就掌了权。”

" They destroyed all the Buddhist monasteries and statues."

“他们毁了所有的佛教寺庙和佛像。”

" That's terrible," said Wukong

“太可怕了，”悟空说。

" Those Taoists can't get away with this."

“那些道士不能这样胡作非为。”

" The Taoists won't treat us this way forever," said a third monk

“道士们不会一直这样对待我们的，”第三个和尚说。

" The spirit of the planet Venus visited us in a dream one night."

“太白金星有天晚上在梦里来找过我们。”

" He said that one day, someone would come along to save us."

“他说有一天，会有人来救我们。”

" Oh, really?" Wukong raised an eyebrow

“哦，真的吗？”悟空挑了挑眉。

" Who is going to save you?"

“谁来救你们？”

旁白 neutral

" A fierce monkey spirit," said the monk

“一个厉害的猴子精灵，”和尚说。

" His name is Sun Wukong."

“他叫孙悟空。”

旁白 neutral

" He is so powerful that Heaven's entire army couldn't defeat him."

“他厉害到天庭的整支大军都打不过他。”

Wukong smiled

悟空笑了。

" I've heard of Sun Wukong."

“我听说过孙悟空。”

旁白 neutral

" And it's true that he's very powerful."

“而且他确实很厉害。”

旁白 neutral

" Did Venus tell you what he looks like?"

“金星有没有告诉你们他长什么样？”

" Oh, yes," said the monk

“有的，”和尚说。

旁白 neutral

" So you'll recognize him if you see him?" asked Wukong, trying not to laugh

“那你们见到他就能认出来？”悟空问道，忍着不笑。

" Certainly," said the monk

“当然，”和尚说。

旁白 neutral

" Why do you ask?"

“你为什么这样问？”

Lights sparkled around Wukong

光芒在悟空周围闪烁。

A moment later, he was a monkey again

片刻之后，他又变回了猴子的样子。

" Sun Wukong!" cried the monks

“孙悟空！”和尚们叫道。

They all fell to their knees and bowed
